Once upon a time there was a girl who loved to write. Then the end-of-summer-crazy hit and she had to start a big girl job with a salary and working hours and professional development. And her internet words were few.
But on this last day of August, I’m back! And I’ve missed you! I’m still unsure of how this newsletter will fit into the new rhythms of life but until then, I want to keep writing when I can. It may not be as long, frequent, or polished but God has been doing such a work in my life, I can’t not share!
If you’re new here— Hi! Welcome to “Court’s Cut” where I simply bring a clumsy compilation of things I like each week. With a vision statement like that, I’m sure to succeed! ;)
This week, I have been impacted by these words from Matthew 28, “deep in wonder and full of joy.” These descriptors were of the women at the tomb after the angel told them that Jesus really did what He said He was going to do! These women, albeit a tad terrified, were “deep in wonder and full of joy.”
I, too, often get surprised at what Jesus is up to; sometimes it doesn’t look at all like what I’ve pictured in my head. Yes, I believe Jesus. Yes, I know of His faithfulness. Yes, I see Him doing a work around me. And yet, there are some days I struggle with comprehending His plan. It’s in these moments I want to put this model into practice. Instead of spinning into anxiety or hacking out the details on a spreadsheet or numbing out with chips and an Instagram feed, I want to move toward being “deep in wonder and full of joy.” How might that change my everyday? If when I expect one thing and another thing happens, I turn here instead of my normal vices? If when I am certain Jesus is “here” and instead, He ends up calling me “there”…
“Oh Lord, fill us with Your deep wonder and immense joy, today. May we curiously follow after You with a sparkle in our eyes.”

The Pod is still on hold! Not forever, just for now, while I try to find my new rhythm in this season. Honestly, I miss it so much and am really trying to find a way to work it in. But, if not, I trust what God has for me right now and am happy to walk forward in that.
Feel free to go back and listen in to the first four seasons:
